The Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Office of Aviation is updating the 2004 Iowa Aviation System Plan (IASP). The 2004 IASP has been a useful tool to guide the development of an aviation system that strives to meet the needs of users. Many of the recommendations of the 2004 IASP have been acomplished and it is now time to evaluate the benchmarks set in 2004 to see how we’re doing…and where we need to go in the next 20 years!
The updated 2010 IASP will include a review of airport roles, goals, and objectives for the aviation system. Airport data for public use airports in Iowa will be updated and benchmarks evaluated. Evaluation of approaches to runways at airports included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) will also be accomplished as part of this project.
The Iowa DOT Office of Aviation has contracted with Mead & Hunt to guide us through the update process. An advisory committee has been created to provide assistance and feedback. This web site will follow the progress of the 2010 IASP Update, providing information on meetings, project tasks, and draft documents as they are completed. Your comments and suggestions are encouraged throughout the process, either through the comment page, or by contacting one of the project team members.
