The Iowa DOT Office of Aviation hosted public input meetings to present information on the progress of the 2010 Iowa Aviation System Plan update and collect input on the future of Iowa’s aviation system. Meetings were held at the following locations:

Presentations in Spencer, Mason City, Ankeny, and Iowa City reviewed system goals, facility and service targets, activity forecasts, and performance of the existing system and focused on collecting input from the aviation community. Nov 2010 Public Input Meeting Presentation
An additional meeting was held in Ankeny for public and economic officials that focused on the importance of the aviation system towards strengthening and facilitating economic growth. Nov 2010 Elected-Economic Official Presentation
Public Input Session – Two public input sessions were held on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 in Carroll at the Carrollton Inn and Thursday, October 22, 2009 in Cedar Rapids at the Kirkwood Center for Continuing Education.
These public input sessions were designed for anyone interested in Iowa’s aviation system. At the meetings, the intent of the study was explained, attendees were queried about their use of the existing IASP, and issues that should be addressed in the 2010 IASP were solicited.
November 10, 2010, 10:00 a.m. – Cloud Room, Des Moines International Airport – The Technical Advisory Committee gathered to review system plan recommendations as suggested during the public input meetings that were held in Spencer, Mason City, Ankeny, and Iowa City. Recommendations recieved were based on comments, suggestions, and questions received from pilots, governmental officials, aviation users, and the general public.
September 22, 2010, 11:30 a.m. – Iowa DOT Offices, Ames – Review of the aviation system’s airports in meeting identified performance measures and facility and service targets kicked off the fourth Technical Advisory Committee meeting. Discussion led by Office of Aviation staff focused on the concept of identifying “regional” airports and the criteria to define these facilities. Plan recommendations were also presented to the committee to gather input.
June 22, 2010, 11:30 a.m. – Cloud Room, Des Moines International Airport – The third meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee reviewed roles to classify system airports and defined service and facility objectives to measure the performance of the system.
February 11, 2010, 12 noon – Iowa DOT Offices, Ames – The second meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee focused on collecting input from committee members on the goals of the IASP and factors that influence classification of airport roles.
August 26, 2009, 11 a.m. — Iowa DOT Offices, Ames — The Iowa Aviation System Plan (IASP) Update project kicked-off with a meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee members in Ames. At the meeting, an introduction to the project and system plan process was presented. Advisory Committee members discussed the mission, goals, objectives, and performance measures to be included in the 2010 IASP Update.
