Mead & Hunt – Diversity

Daniel Mead became involved in more diverse projects during his two-decade partnership with Charles Seastone, when the firm was known as Mead & Seastone.  In 1914, the American Red Cross and the Chinese Republic sent Mead to China as part of an engineering board to study and make recommendations for flood control on the Huai (Yellow) River.

Then, in early 1916, Mead opened a second firm in New York, partnering with Colonel F.W. Sheidenhelm, an association that would continue until Mead’s death in 1948.  In 1928, President Calvin Coolidge appointed Mead to the Colorado River Board commission to study the Hoover Dam project and plans.

During this time, Seastone spent time writing scientific articles and conducting private consulting, although his primary focus was his partnership with Mead.
