American Airlines – Austin Straubel International Airport
Green Bay, Wisconsin
Austin Straubel International Airport is a small-hub airport located in eastern Wisconsin. Historically, Austin Straubel International Airport has been served by multiple air carriers. In efforts to improve air service at Austin Straubel International Airport to southeastern and southwestern markets, Mead & Hunt was retained to provide market analyses, passenger projections, and related financial information for potential new markets.
Austin Straubel International Airport is in competition with Appleton’s Outagamie County Airport for passenger traffic and air service. Passenger diversion to Appleton and the need for more direct service to the southeast and southwest US prompted airport management to target airlines that could provide this service. Subsequently, Mead & Hunt prepared a Passenger Demand Analysis for the Green Bay market. This was followed by the preparation of an air service pro forma for Delta Air Lines’ Atlanta service and American Airlines’ Dallas/Ft. Worth service. Austin Straubel International Airport representatives and Mead & Hunt staff presented the proposal to American Airlines in July 2004. American Airlines started service in June 2005.
Delta Air Lines is currently engaged in discussions with the airport about future service to Atlanta. Mead & Hunt continues to work with Austin Straubel International Airport to identify additional service opportunities.
