Environmental Assessment for Runway Improvements – Albert Lea Municipal Airport
Albert Lea, Minnesota
The city of Albert Lea retained Mead & Hunt to prepare the environmental document for its proposed municipal airport runway improvement project. The project consists of shifting the existing 4,500-foot-long runway 400 feet west, extending it to 5,000 feet, and improving the existing runway to allow its use as a full length parallel taxiway.
A federal Environmental Assessment and State of Minnesota Environmental Impact Statement (mandatory based on the 5000-foot runway length) was prepared to satisfy Federal Aviation Administration and State of Minnesota Environmental Quality Board review requirements. A wetland delineation, Section 106 compliance, and noise analysis were included in the analysis.
