Roundabout – USH 141/Allouez Avenue

Mead & Hunt developed plans for a roundabout at the intersection of USH 141 and Allouez Avenue.  Our design team created a comparison matrix to show the advantages and disadvantages of two different size roundabouts versus a signalized intersection.  Mead & Hunt made the skewed intersection safer by realigning two of the approaches and making one of the approaches less steep.  The roundabout location was shifted to be further away from the railroad crossing.  The proposed design was used to create a drive-thru animation and photo renderings for a public informational meeting.  The 3-D visualization assisted in illustrating the plans to the public, which resulted in a design that received the community’s approval. 

Mead & Hunt provided 30 percent and 60 percent roundabout review submittals, environmental document, landscaping plans, lighting plans, pavement design report utility and agency coordination, public involvement, and a transportation project plat.
