Roundabouts – CTH G
De Pere, Wisconsin
Mead & Hunt designed plans to convert a two-lane rural roadway to a two-lane urban roadway with a center two-way continuous left-turn lane, bike lanes on each side, and sidewalks. The project used three separate roundabouts. The high school adjacent to the project re-routed their main entrance to create a four-legged intersection at one roundabout and a nearby middle school indirectly used the second roundabout. The third roundabout was installed at a T-intersection to reduce traffic speeds and provide for safer pedestrian movements. The average daily traffic on this roadway was 7,100 at the time of construction.
