Historic Resource Study – Minuteman Missile National Historic Site, South Dakota
National Park Service – South Dakota
The National Park Service hired Mead & Hunt to prepare a Historic Resource Study (HRS) and complete the National Register of Historic Places nomination form for the Minuteman Missile National Historic Site (NHS) outside of Wall, South Dakota.
The HRS provides a historic overview of the Minuteman Missile NHS and allows its cultural resources to be interpreted within appropriate local, regional, national, and international contexts. As a result of synthesized documentary research and field observations, the HRS serves planning, management, and interpretive needs as a complete reference for the area history and resources.
The research project resulted in the conversion of a draft National Historic Landmark nomination into a National Register nomination form for the Minuteman Missile NHS. The National Register form provides updated documentation on the significance of the site and identifies eligible properties within the NHS.
