Historic Resources Surveys

City of Minneapolis – Minneapolis, Minnesota

The City of Minneapolis and the Heritage Preservation Commission, in cooperation with the Minnesota Historical Society, contracted with Mead & Hunt to complete historic resources surveys of large portions of the city, including North Minneapolis, Cedar-Riverside area, Northeast Minneapolis, Southwest Minneapolis, Lowry Hill East Neighborhood, and South central Minneapolis. These survey areas contain approximately 55,000 buildings that were reviewed.  For each survey, Mead & Hunt identified important historic themes and evaluated historic-age resources with to determine if they would be eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places and for local landmark designation.  Typical activities included site-specific research on individual properties, context development, and future research and survey recommendations.  The surveys were completed in short time frames to meet the City’s schedule.
