Land Use GIS Tool a Hit at SWAAAE

With a click of the mouse, attendees at the 52nd Annual SWAAAE Airport Management Short Course witnessed the benefits of using GIS to streamline airport planning and operations.

In Session #7 on January 31 Mead & Hunt, in association with the City of Ontario, showcased the Ontario GIS Tool, which was specifically developed to implement the Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan (ALUCP) for Ontario International Airport. The ALUCP establishes restrictions on future development within vicinity of the airport to minimize future noise and safety hazards.

A live demonstration of the Ontario GIS Tool enabled the audience to clearly see how the GIS Tool is used to streamline reviews of complex development proposals between a half dozen agencies. Participants left the session with an understanding of the convenience that the GIS Tool could afford their own agency in making daily planning decisions about projects around their airport.
