This April a group of professionals interested in historic roads will be convening a working group to address this resource at the National Council on Public History’s (NCPH) annual meeting. The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) has developed guidance to assist federal agencies and their preservation partners in developing Prototype Programmatic Agreements (prototype agreements). Recently, a number of federal agencies have expressed interest in pursuing a prototype agreement, one of the several program alternatives provided in the regulations implementing the Section 106 process, “Protection of Historic Properties” (36 CFR Part 800).
