The main street required resurfacing and had poor drainage. The 1950s-era lighting needed constant repair and the sidewalks were uneven. We completed a conceptual design for the overall downtown area, improving streets, utilities, sidewalks, storm sewers and lighting. Visual improvements included planting trees, pouring decorative concrete and adding benches. '];

It connects the state capitol building on one end with the Monona Convention Center on the other. City hall is here, too. Our engineering design included the road, pedestrian facilities and utilities. It was a complex project. Our team started with survey work to lay it all out and carried it through to the end.   '];

We also added a design feature called a pedestrian tabletop to emphasize the crosswalk area. It’s a section of roadway that is raised, textured and painted. It impacted storm drainage so our engineering team adjusted their design.   '];

We reached out to the existing underground utility companies and encouraged them to upgrade before the permanent concrete was installed. Later upgrades would tear up the new street investment.
