Survey collection has concluded.

The data collection effort for this study will rely heavily on the use of surveys.  The two studies will utilize surveys which will be distributed to the following subject below at each of the 97 sample airports.

As individual surveys are developed, they will be posted on this Web site for use by interested parties.

Airport Manager Survey

The manager survey requests information regarding the operations at the airport including information on rates and fees, aircraft operations, hangar occupancy and other operational issues as well as options for airport improvements. This survey should be completed by airport managers only and is only available in hard-copy form

Business Survey

The business survey requests information about the type of business; the reliance of the business on the existence of the airport; company wages, revenues and expenditures and taxes; options for airport improvements; options for use of other airports and other potential users (clients). This survey should be completed by businesses that are located on airport property, are reliant on the airport, or are members of the aerospace industry.

Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber of Commerce survey will evaluate the chambers promotion and/or reliance on their local airport for economic development in the community. In addition, this survey will assess the economic climate of the local area, the local interest in the development of the airport, and other important economic information. This survey should be completed by the local chambers of commerce. Multiple airports may be served by the same chamber of commerce and one survey should be completed for each airport facility.

State Legislature

The state legislature survey will provide insight into the needs of the community as they relate to aviation services, business development and tourism. This survey should be completed by members of the state and federal legislatures.

Ontario Municipal Airport

County Government

The county government survey will evaluate the counties interest in the development of the airports within their boundaries. The survey will evaluate the airport on a regional level and its importance to the communities it serves, the counties economic climate, and the interest in the development of the airports within the county. This survey should be completed by County Judges, County Commissioners, County Planners, and County Economic Development Agencies. Multiple airports may be located in one county, please complete a survey for each airport within your county.

Host Community

The host community survey will assess the level of interest in the local community regarding the development and existence of the airport. This survey should be completed by the local economic development agency and the local planning agency for each community which hosts a local airport that they are not the owners of. For example, the City of Wasco would complete the Host Community Survey since they are the host community for the Wasco State Airport.

Local Government

The government survey will evaluate the local governments interest in the development of their local airport. The survey will evaluate the airport on a local level and its importance to the community, the local economic climate, and the local interest in the development of the airport. This survey should be completed by local planners, local economic development agencies and local mayors who have airports located within their community, which are owned by their community.
