Status Update - March 14, 2008

Introduction

The Ports of Douglas and Chelan Counties, owners and operators of Pangborn Memorial Airport, along with the Federal Aviation Administration Seattle Airports District Office (FAA-ADO) are undertaking an Airfield Improvement Needs Assessment study. Funding for the study is coming from a combination of sources: a grant from the FAA-managed Airport Improvement Program ($150,000), federal STIP funds from WSDOT, guided by the Wenatchee Valley Transportation Council ($130,000) and the Ports of Chelan and Douglas Counties ($79,691.)

The study is about making sure Pangborn Memorial Airport continues to provide safe, reliable air service to residents and businesses in the community, as well as to area visitors. The goal of the study is to establish a solid plan for the improvement of Pangborn’s primary runway, in order to improve safety and reliability for current and future airport users. The airport owners are committed to maintaining a vibrant airport with the right facilities to support the community’s aviation transportation needs.
